Pointing
Everyone Home

We are building the church of Jesus Christ creatively and courageously, believing anything is possible when God is in it, and confident that through the power of the Holy Spirit, our city will be changed.

We Believe in Flagstaff

We believe God

loves this city

deeply, and so do

we.

We see a church filled with students, families, outdoor adventurers, lifelong locals, and people from every walk of life discovering hope, purpose, and a place to belong. We see friendships formed around dinner tables, conversations that lead to life change, and a community marked by generosity, freedom, and genuine love for one another.

We see people encountering God in fresh and unexpected ways. We see lives transformed, families strengthened, and a new generation finding faith that's real and personal. We see a church that serves its city well, celebrates what makes Flagstaff unique, and helps point people toward the hope found in Jesus.

We’re Chris
& Lindsey Baldwin

Our journey to planting Waypoint Church has been years in the making. While our stories began very differently—Chris was raised in a healthy, faith-filled family, while Lindsey found her faith in the middle of a much more difficult upbringing—we've both experienced the life-changing hope and purpose that Jesus gives. Over the years, God planted a dream in our hearts to build a church where people could ask honest questions, build meaningful relationships, and discover that same hope for themselves. We prayed, explored different cities, and waited for God's timing, believing He would make the next step clear when the time was right. ...

What We Believe

In Essential Beliefs,
We Have Unity

"There is one body and one Spirit... just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

 — Ephesians 4:4-6

In Non-Essential Beliefs,
We Have Liberty

"Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters... Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall... So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God... Whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God."

 — Romans 14:1,4,12,22

In All Our Beliefs, We Show Charity

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."

 — 1 Corinthians 13:2

The Essentials

  • One God

We believe in one true God who has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,” the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind.

God has revealed Himself as three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — commonly known as the Trinity.

    Scripture References:

    • Deuteronomy 6:4
    • Isaiah 43:10-11
    • Matthew 28:19
  • The Deity of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and fully divine.

    The Scriptures declare:

    • His virgin birth
    • Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:31-35
    • His sinless life
    • Hebrews 7:26, 1 Peter 2:22
    • His miracles
    • Acts 2:22, Acts 10:38
    • His substitutionary death on the cross
    • 1 Corinthians 15:3, 2 Corinthians 5:21
    • His bodily resurrection from the dead
    • Matthew 28:6, Luke 24:39, 1 Corinthians 15:4
    • His ascension to the right hand of God
    • Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 1:3
  • The Scriptures Inspired

We believe the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are inspired by God and are the revelation of God to humanity.

The Bible is the infallible, inerrant, and authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

    Scripture References:

    • 2 Timothy 3:15-17
    • 1 Thessalonians 2:13
    • 2 Peter 1:21
  • The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the presence and power of God active in the world today.

The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live holy lives and to minister effectively.

We believe the Holy Spirit baptizes believers:

    1. Into the Body of Christ
    2. Into the fullness of His supernatural power

This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all biblical spiritual gifts.

    Scripture References:

    • Galatians 5:16
    • Luke 24:49
    • Acts 1:8
    • Acts 4:8
    • 1 Corinthians 12
  • The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ and exists to carry out the mission of Jesus in the world.

The Church’s mission is to seek and save those who do not yet know Christ and to make disciples of all nations.

The Church consists of all people throughout history who have accepted God’s offer of redemption through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

    Scripture References:

    • Matthew 28:19-20
    • Ephesians 1:22-23
    • Ephesians 2:19-22
  • The Blessed Hope

We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment of all people.

Those who belong to Christ will experience eternal life, and those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God.

    Scripture References:

    • 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
    •  Matthew 25:31-46
  • Relationship to Church Governance

This Statement of Faith serves as the doctrinal foundation of Waypoint Church.

The Board of Directors is responsible for guarding the doctrinal integrity of the church and ensuring that teaching and ministry remain consistent with these beliefs.
